Services include:

• information and advice
• a comprehensive group work programme
• social care
• person centred approach
• self management of long term health conditions
• healthy eating and alternative health
• well-being – stress management and physical activity
• carers support
• links to advocacy and counselling services
• equality awareness
• buddy up - volunteers provide additional assistance to new applicants
• consultation and focus groups
• a healthy heart garden
• a sensory garden and wild wood area

In line with the National Care Standards, a named worker will be available to provide information and support.

Partnerships exist with local colleges, employment agencies, volunteering projects, sports facilities and community arts venues. These complement our in-house activities.

Our main links are with social work and health professionals including occupational therapists, social workers, G.P. practices and health centres.

We offer help to:

• manage everyday tasks that become more difficult with ill health or injury
• gain confidence
• learn new interests and skills
• adapt to change
• access educational projects and volunteering opportunities

Customers are encouraged to be involved in the development of the service. Monthly joint meetings are held with the Users Committee to discuss areas of improvement.

• Sports Development Committee
• Users' committee

Any adult with a physical disability or sensory impairment is eligible to apply to use our service. Within 4 weeks of receiving your application, we will invite you to visit the centre.


You can refer yourself or others can apply on your behalf e.g. your carer, G.P., social worker or occupational therapist.
