- a range of social work support services using team members familiar with Deaf Culture;
- staff fluent in the use of sign language;
- needs assessments taking into account your views and those of your carers;
- aids and adaptations to your home; and
- training and support to help you make the most of your abilities and encourage you to be independent.
They provide:
- advocacy, or acting on your behalf;
- assessment and care management;
- practical support;
- help to access sign language interpreters, electronic note-takers, lip-speakers and other communication support systems;
- help to access lip reading classes and/or training such as sign language or deaf awareness training;
- up-to-date national information on videos and DVDs made in British Sign Language; and
- access to facilities such as conference rooms and private interview rooms which are equipped with enhanced loop systems.
- the voluntary sector in particular Deafblind Scotland, SCOD (Scottish Council on Deafness) and RNID;
- the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde;
- education and housing services; and
- other social work teams.
