The court social work team is located within the Paisley Sheriff Court building. The primary task of the service is to provide information and advice to the Court and a throughcare service for offenders and their families. This includes:
- dealing with the reports requested by the court
- interviewing offenders following a decision by the court to make a disposal involving social work
- interviewing individuals following a court decision to impose a custodial sentence or period of remand
- seeking to divert persons suffering from mental disorders who may be at risk to themselves from a custodial remand.
