The Social work department provides a range of caring and support services to the people of Renfrewshire. Listed below are some of the services that can be accessed through the Social work department. If you wish to be assessed for these services or have concerns about family or friends please book an appointment to see a duty worker.
Children, young people and families
- family support
- protection for children at risk of harm
- adoption and fostering services
- looking after children in the community
- looking after children in residential care
- support for children with special needs and their families
Community care services are provided to people who require support and assistance due to frailty, physical disability, learning disability, mental health problems or any other issue that affects personal independence and safety. Community care services include:
- assessing personal needs and arranging care supports
- home care services
- occupational therapy services
- day care services
- care home care
- respite for carers
- community alarm services
- specialist services for people with sight or hearing impairment
- alcohol and drug counselling
- advice and counselling
- supervision and guidance for people placed on probation by the courts
- production of Social Enquiry and other reports for the court
- supervision of those undertaking unpaid work by order of the court
- supervision and support to individuals released from prison, and their families
At the moment this service is only available in Renfrew. However the service will be rolled out to cover all area teams in the future. Please check this page for information. Details of the area teams are on the menu on the right hand side.
