ACUMEN (Advancing Community Understanding of Mental and Emotional Needs) is a service user and carer led network.
Our Board of Directors comprises service user and carer representatives from each of the five local authority areas in Argyll and Clyde.
One of the aims of the organisation is to promote the wider involvement of service users and carers in shaping mental health services, both regionally and nationally. We hold open meetings every two months and anyone with an interest in mental health is welcome to attend.
Our objectives are to:
- share understanding and knowledge of mental health issues
- identify and develop ways of enabling participation, providing a framework for collective advocacy
- positively promote awareness of mental health issues to the general public
- facilitate and encourage participation and cooperation in relevant mental health issues using a wide range of communication techniques
