- Do you have the skills to foster a child or young person?
- 100 new carers are needed in Renfrewshire. Could you be one of them?
- Every week children come into care and need foster families. can you help?
Renfrewshire need all kinds of foster carers for all kinds of children. We have more than 200 children and young people living with foster families and we are always looking for more families who feel they have something to offer a child. Family based care is seen as the best option for many children who are not able to live with their own family.
There are never enough foster carers to look after all the children who would benefit from living with a family, and we especially need more people who can look after children aged 10 and over. Whether its for a few days, a few weeks, a few months, a couple of years, or even longer - every child we place with a foster family will take away something positive for their future after they move on. Fostering is such a worthwhile job.

Many people nowadays are looking for a job that is more meaningful, and fostering provides just that - a really good way of giving something back and doing something that matters.
But it is also well rewarded these days, both in terms of the money we pay our foster carers, and also the supports we give them - so that people who want to do it are more likely to feel they can afford to give up their work to take this on. There's no time like the present - so if you have been thinking about it for a while, now might be the time to take the next step.

We have a very friendly and approachable group of workers in our fostering team who will be able to give you all the information you need. There is no pressure just a willingness to help you decide whether this might be something for you.
