More and more people are interested in finding out about their ancestors, and developments on the web have increased access to information from across the world but there can be nothing quite as exciting as seeing the real thing in the place where your people lived.

The booklet outlines Renfrewshire's family history records which cover: The booklet also contains an interesting map by local historian Alan Steel which suggests where and when local surnames originated. Paper copies of the booklet are available from various locations including Renfrewshire libraries, Planning and Transport, Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley and the Tourist Information Centre at 9a Gilmour Street, Paisley.

Paisley has a wealth of beautiful and interesting buildings, including the medieval Abbey, wonderful 19th century churches and public buildings, good pubs, restaurants and cafes.
