Bob Darracott - Director of Planning and Transport
The director of planning and transport is responsible for the management, strategic direction and effective delivery of the department’s core functions:
- Planning and building standards
- Roads and transportation
- Business and economic development
- Resource and performance
The links between the department's core services support a coordinated approach being taken to achieve council priority objectives in areas such as:
- infrastructure improvements
- economic and business development
- area regeneration
- planning and building standards advice

Fraser Carlin - Head of Planning and Development
The head of planning and development is responsible for the preparation of the Renfrewshire Local Plan and input to the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan. These development plans guide future development and investment across Renfrewshire. As head of planning and development, Fraser also makes decisions on applications for planning permission and building warrant on behalf of the council. Other duties include the preparation of master plans and area regeneration schemes.
Fraser is also responsible for the protection of our listed buildings, conservation areas, important areas of the natural environment and the quality of Renfrewshire's heritage. His role also includes widening biodiversity and improving access to the countryside.

Scott Allan - Head of Roads and Transportation
The head of roads and transportation is responsible for the provision, management, development and maintenance of the road and footpath network across Renfrewshire.
The road network ensures that everyone in Renfrewshire has access to jobs, schools, shops, health and leisure facilities.
It also provides links to wider markets by way of Glasgow airport and the Scottish motorway network.

The head of roads and transportation's key responsibilities include:
- preparing and implementing strategies for the integrated development of roads and public transport
- developing and maintaining roads, bridges, structures, footpaths, street lighting and associated infrastructure
- road safety and developing programmes to promote 'green' transport, including walking and cycling
- maintaining rivers and watercourses
- flood prevention, winter maintenance and emergencies
- monitoring road and bridge maintenance
