Address queries
Home > Services > Planning and building standards > Street names and addresses
The council often deal with enquiries about addresses. The most common ones are:
- 'my address isn't on Royal Mail's database'
- 'the Royal Mail address for my property is wrong'
- 'another property address conflicts with mine'
If you want to change your address and the change will affect the street name or number of other properties as well as your own, for example in a block of flats please contact the council.
The council will try to reach an outcome which causes minimum disruption to everyone affected by the proposals. If the changes are approved, the council will notify all the appropriate property address organisations (including Royal Mail and Emergency Services) to make the changes official.
