The council have approved a strategy for the regeneration of the West End, which provides a framework for the physical, social and economic regeneration of the area. Key objectives of the strategy include:

• improving housing stock by providing a choice of housing type and tenure,
• improving the environmental quality of the area,
• supporting existing communities facilities and shops, and
• making sure that the West End is a safe and welcoming place in which to live and work.

It is expected that that the strategy will be implemented over a period of 5 to 10 years.
