Councils are required by the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 to prepare a Local Plan or Plans for the whole of their areas.
Our Local Plan was created on 7 March 2006 and guides development and the use of land in the towns, villages and rural areas of Renfrewshire.
The plan's written statement has been broken down into a series of smaller documents to make downloading more convenient. These documents can be downloaded below or can be viewed at the council's headquarters in Paisley and in our public libraries.

The Local Plan Alteration No1 has also been added to this page for downloading. This document covers a small area and was adopted in January 2008.

The Local Plan proposals map comes in the form of six maps printed double-sided on three sheets. The electronic versions of the paper maps are very large files and are not suitable for downloading over the web. However, an interactive version of the map is available to help with understanding and interpretation of the Local Plan.

The purpose of the update report is to provide an annual examination into any new planning policy issues or progress on projects identified in the Local Plan since its publication. The most recent Update Report was approved by the Planning and Economic Development Board in March 2010.
