Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and the Local Development Plan
Under the Environmental Assessment ( Scotland) 2005 Act, SEA is a requirement for statutory development plans and other plans if they are likely to have a significant environmental affect. The purpose of the SEA is to assess how the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan might affect the environment and consider how environmental impacts can be avoided, reduced or mitigated. The SEA is an important process which places environmental considerations at the centre of decision making process. The council has recently completed the Scoping Report for the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan. The Scoping Report sets out the Council's view on how the environmental assessment should be carried out.
