Getting around Renfrewshire by bike

Renfrewshire lies to the west of Glasgow on the south bank of the River Clyde and is crossed by the M8 motorway and the Ayr and Wemyss Bay / Gourock rail lines.

The Ayr rail line provides a range of good options for getting to cycle routes in Renfrewshire. Paisley, Gilmour Street station, and more particularly, Canal Street station provide easy access to the Sustrans cycle routes 7 and 75.

The stations at Paisley, Johnstone, Milliken Park, Howwood, and Lochwinnoch also provide good access to Lance Armstrong's route allowing you to tackle the run from a variety of start points or letting you cycle part of the route and return by train.

Renfrewshire's 'Glasgow International Airport' is just 2.5 kilometres from Paisley town centre. It provides an ideal arrival and departure point for cycle tourists who want to tour Scotland. In particular, there is easy access to the west coast either directly by the Erskine Bridge, by using the ferries from Gourock and Wemyss Bay or through the train services from Paisley east to Glasgow, south to Ayrshire and west to Gourock.
