Carts flood liaison and advice group

Home > Services > Transport and Streets > Flooding

The Scottish Government encourages councils to set up flood advisory groups following the flooding events of the early 1990's, notably in Inverness, Perth, Paisley and Kilmarnock. Scottish Planning Policy (SPP)7 states that councils should convene Flood Liaison and Advisory Groups (FLAGs) or combine with other councils to do so, possibly on a catchment basis. The purpose of a FLAG is to act as a forum for the key public sector and private interests to share knowledge and offer advice.

The Carts FLAG is convened by Renfrewshire Council and comprises planning and engineering representatives from Glasgow City, East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, South Lanarkshire and West Dumbartonshire Councils together with specialists from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Water and Scottish Natural Heritage. The group meets three to four times a year.
