The high rise flats in Linwood
Linwood lies on the Black Cart Water, three kilometres west of Paisley. Its population is just over 10,000. While it may appear to be a "new town" at first glance, in fact it has a long and interesting history.

Linwood Sports Centre provides excellent "dry sports" facilities, with sports halls, gyms, pitches and courts.

The site of the former Peugeot Talbot car plant has been developed into the Phoenix Retail Park, complete with hotel, multiplex cinema, supermarket, many car dealerships and big name retailers. Due to the Phoenix's closeness to Glasgow International Airport, other parts of the site now host distribution and freight companies.
