Bridge of Weir is located seven miles west of Paisley on the A761 and sits close to the River Gryffe. The village's history is described here.
The main street has a good selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops.
The village has two excellent golf courses, Ranfurly Castle and Old Ranfurly, and is also home to the internationally renowned Bridge of Weir Leather Company.

The national cycle route NCR 75 from Edinburgh to Greenock passes through the area and is popular with walkers and bird watchers.
Bridge of Weir has a number of excellent walks including those along the River Gryffe to Houston or Crosslee. A leaflet of walks around Bridge of Weir is available from the village library, the Pirie information centre, Lochnagar Coffee Shop or Renfrewshire Council.

The village does not have a train station so if you intend to travel by train, you should change to bus at Paisley or Johnstone. Several bus routes run to Bridge of Weir from Paisley and Glasgow.
If travelling by car, Bridge of Weir is easily accessible from the A737.
