Renfrewshire Trusted Trader Scheme helps consumers choose a reliable trader by publishing a directory of local businesses that have allowed consumers to comment and rate their work.

Renfrewshire Trusted Trader

Trusted Trader members have agreed to adhere to a specific code of practice and to have their business practices monitored by the Trading Standards team.
Before entering into any home improvements contract, we would advise you to follow the guidance on our advice page.

Limitations to the scheme

The scheme provides consumers with a platform to express their views on member businesses quality of work and conduct. Trading Standards are not directly involved in the agreement between you and the seller and we cannot offer compensation. However, we can offer assistance in the event of complaints through our Dispute Resolution Service.

Further to this:
Dispute resolution service

If there is a problem with any goods or service that you buy from a Trusted Trader, please follow the following process:
  1. In the first instance, you should contact the trader in writing and give them the opportunity to resolve any issues you may have. Send your complaint letter by Recorded Delivery and keep a copy of the letter and the Recorded Delivery receipt for records. Consumer Direct and Directgov have produced template letters to make a complaint.
  2. If you do not receive a response, or remain unhappy please contact us via Consumer Direct on 08454 040506. They will provide you with initial advice and if necessary pass you to Trading Standards.
  3. Trading Standards will investigate the complaint and mediate between both parties to attempt to resolve any issues.
  4. If mediation is unsuccessful, information will be provided with details of how to progress through the relevant litigation procedure.
