Please help us improve trading standards webpages by taking our short survey.
Window blind cords and chains can pose a risk for babies, children and vulnerable people who could injure or even strangle themselves on the hanging looped cords.
To reduce the risk posed to you or your family you should:
- examine every blind in your home. If they have a looped control cord and are not fitted with safety devices, ask your nearest approved British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) 'make it safe' supplier to install them;
- ensure that all blind cords cannot be reached by children;
- when buying new blinds, discuss the possible safety options with your nearest approved BBSA 'make it safe' supplier; and
- visit the 'Make it Safe' website and watch their safety video.
