Below is a list of Trading Standards fees and charges which apply for services in Renfrewshire for 2011/12 and 2012/13. (VAT is charged on trading standards services where applicable.)

C. Special weighing and measuring equipment
Charges for carrying out any meteorological work of a type not detailed above (for example - examining, adjusting, testing, certifying, stamping, authorising or reporting of special weighing or measuring equipment) is based on a £69.30 per officer hour multiplied by any appropriate overtime factor.

Note: When testing instruments incorporating remote display or printing facilities and where completion of the test requires a second person or a second series of tests by the same person, an additional fee shall be based upon the basic fee given above plus a 50% surcharge.
Note: A charge to cover any additional costs involved in testing instruments calibrated to weigh in both metric and imperial incorporating remote display or printing facilities is based on the basic fee given above plus additional costs at the rate of £69.30 per officer hour multiplied by an appropriate overtime factor.

I. Additions to scale of fees

| Adjustment Service | The fee to be paid for the adjustment of any weight or measure in the course of a service provided pursuant to section 74 of the Weights and Measures Act 1985 shall be charged at £69.30 per officer hour multiplied by any appropriate overtime factor. |

Note: In the case of a solid substance for which by virtue of an Order in Council made under section 19 of the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928 a licence is required, the fee payable will be calculated as if one kilogram of the substance were equivalent to one litre.
Note: The fee payable for a licence of more or less than one year's duration will be the fee set out above increased or decreased, as the case may be, proportionately according to the duration of the period for which the licence is granted or renewed.

M. Scale of fees payable to keep explosives (Fireworks Licence)
If you want to sell fireworks at periods other than around bonfire season or a few religious festivals, you need a 'year-round' licence.
To ensure that you keep up to date with current legislation, it is advised that you visit the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website before applying for a licence.
