Before you buy a mobile phone, think about the type of phone contract package that is right for you.
- Don't sign up to a deal without checking that you can afford to pay for it. Once you sign a contract, you're tied to it.
- Picking the right package is important and may end up saving you money. Generally 'pay as you go' deals are the best ones for light phone users. 'Monthly contract' deals are more likely to be better for heavy phone users.
- Be wary of cold callers offering mobile phone packages and upgrades. If you do enter into such a contract, ensure the terms are the same as the terms agreed on the phone.
- Read the contract carefully before signing it. Don't be pushed into choosing a package you don't need and always read the small print.
