Please help us improve trading standards webpages by taking our short survey.
Before you buy a mobile phone, you should consider the type of contract package that is right for you.
- Don't sign up to a deal without checking that you can afford to pay for it. Remember that once you sign a contract, you are tied to it.
- Picking the right package is important and may end up saving you money. Generally, 'pay as you go' deals are best for light phone users. 'Monthly contract' deals are more likely to be better for heavy phone users.
- Be wary of cold callers offering mobile phone packages and upgrades. If you do enter into such a contract, ensure the terms are the same as the terms agreed on the phone.
- Read the contract carefully before signing it. Don't be pushed into choosing a package you don't need.
- Always read the small print.
If your mobile phone has developed a fault and you need advice on what to do, please contact our partners, Consumer Direct, on 08454 04 05 06 or visit the Consumer Direct website.
