Graffiti is a real blight on communities the world over. We see it every day, on bus shelters, walls and shop fronts. It's unsightly and brings down the appearance of our neighbourhoods.

In reply to residents' growing concerns about the amount of graffiti in parts of Renfrewshire, the council set up a graffiti removal team. This team provide a free service and can remove graffiti from public or private property.

We give priority to graffiti that contains racial, sectarian or obscene words or images, and we will remove this within 24 hours of being told about it .

The team won't remove graffiti from private property unless the owners sign a 'notice of waiver' before the work starts.

You can report a graffiti problem by eform, email or phone:

Unfortunately, we can't remove graffiti from property owned by service companies. If you know which service company a property belongs to, please contact the appropriate company directly using the phone numbers shown below. Graffiti is one of those crimes that is regarded as harmless by the people who do it. But graffiti blights an area, is intimidating, is often offensive and is expensive to clean up.

The council works closely with Strathclyde Police to stamp out this problem and now we're asking you to turn graffiti detective and help us put names against the tags that scar Renfrewshire.

If you know who is responsible, please contact the police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Calls to Crimestoppers are free and you don't have to give your name if you don't want to.
