Most properties within Renfrewshire have a mains drinking water supply provided by Scottish Water. The mains drinking water supply is treated to make sure it is of a good quality.
Scottish Water also regularly check the quality of water supplied.
Scottish Water also regularly check the quality of water supplied.
Renfrewshire Council environmental health officers deal with water quality complaints and check water supplies. Samples are taken from private supplies and if the supply does not meet the required standards, improvements are recommended. This will generally involve the provision and maintenance of small water treatment systems. These treatment systems remove contamination and reduce the risk of infection from drinking contaminated water.
Environmental Services keep a public register containing details of Renfrewshire's private water supplies, the water treatment systems in place, and details of sampling and water quality. The register is available to view by appointment. Contact 0141 840 3106 for further details.
