Service pledges
The standards of service you can expect from Renfrewshire Council's trading standards service are as follows:
- We will ensure the protection of consumers from the sale of unsafe goods by carrying out appropriate and planned business premises inspections, based upon the level of risk to the consumer.
- We will take appropriate action against identified sellers of unsafe goods within an appropriate timescale.
- We will carry out a test purchase programme and take appropriate action against identified traders who are found selling age restricted goods to underage consumers.
- We will ensure the protection of consumers from unfair trading practices by carrying out an appropriate and planned business premises inspection programme.
- We will take appropriate action against identified businesses found to operate unfair trading practices, within an appropriate timescale.
- We will ensure the protection of consumers from the sale of counterfeit goods by responding to all complaints and carrying out investigations as appropriate.
- We will take appropriate action against traders dealing in counterfeit goods within an appropriate timescale.
- We will work in partnership with Consumer Direct to provide consumer advice and will, through this partnership arrangement, ensure a response to all requests from consumers for advice or help in dealing with shopping problems.
- We will respond to requests for advice from businesses within 14 days.
