Product recalls and safety notices
When goods are manufactured and sold with serious flaws that can affect the safety of the public they have to be recalled.
Retailers/manufacturers normally publish notices asking consumers to return the affected product for a full refund or to safely dispose of it. They may advertise the notices in shop windows, newspapers or on the web.
Sellers of some items e.g. washing machines or other large white goods may ask the consumer to contact them to arrange for an engineer to fit a new, modified, part free of charge. If you contact a business about one of these notices and the product is not repaired or replaced as promised, please contact us at Trading Standards. We have powers to make sure that faulty products are repaired or replaced on your behalf.
