Please help us improve trading standards webpages by taking our short survey.

Product recalls and safety notices

When goods are manufactured and sold with serious flaws that can affect the safety of the public they have to be recalled.

Retailers/manufacturers normally publish notices asking consumers to return the affected product for a full refund or to safely dispose of it. They may advertise the notices in shop windows, newspapers or on the web.

Sellers of some items e.g. washing machines or other large white goods may ask the consumer to contact them to arrange for an engineer to fit a new, modified, part free of charge. If you contact a business about one of these notices and the product is not repaired or replaced as promised, please contact us at Trading Standards. We have powers to make sure that faulty products are repaired or replaced on your behalf.

To see the latest, up-to-date product recall and safety notices online, please visit Trading Standards Central.

You could also sign up to our free e-update alerts which will publish the latest product recalls.

If you are a trader and want to recall a product or place a safety notice on the Trading Standards Central website, please email: Publications@tsi.org.uk
