We want children and young people of all ages to visit our libraries. We have lots of great services that you can use if you become a library member. We also have activities going on in some of our libraries so come along and have some fun!

- do homework
- read books in the library
- use the photocopier
We hope you will join and:
- use the library PCs
- borrow books, CDs or tapes to enjoy at home
- check out what's in the library catalogue
- reserve items - we let you know when they are in
How many books and tapes can I take home?
When you get a membership card you can borrow up to six books, including two story tapes, for four weeks. Don't worry if you haven't finished that book you are enjoying because you can renew it yourself online once you have a password. We have a great selection of books and if we don't have what you want we can order it for you. You can choose from:
- easy reads for beginners
- horror, adventure, fantasy, romance, mystery
- storybooks
- factual books for study or pleasure
- books for school topics

What else can I do when I am a library member?
Use PCs and the Internet
- Internet ready PCs scanners and printers that you can use for fun things and homework are available in every library - they're free but you must have your membership card
- with your library card you can use our electronic resources in the library and from home! You need to use the barcode on the back of your library card.
- check out Homework help with ERLI and see what great resources we have
- sign up soon and check out the 'children and young people' section. Most things are free in libraries but we do charge a small fee for printing out pages from the PCs and photocopying
- get ahead with homework our friendly staff will be happy to show you the best homework websites
- drop in and chill out after a hard day at school - we can show you loads of fun websites
- we really do know books and authors and we have put together a webpage that links to amazing booksites - look in the bookzone at the top right
Have fun with Stories from the web.
Libraries often have activities during the school holidays, things like:
- computer clubs and activities
- making cards and crafts
- taking part in reading challenges
