Monumental inscriptions and mortcloth records

The Local Studies Library has copies of 'Monumental Inscriptions for Renfrewshire'. This is a useful source of information for people who are researching their family history.

It contains information inscribed on gravestones, in Renfrewshire burial grounds, for deaths before 1855. It's in two volumes and has a name index.

The library also has a copy of the Abbey Parish of Paisley mortcloth records. This records payment for use of the mortcloth which was draped over the coffin in the funeral ceremony. These records are currently being indexed and are arranged chronologically covering the period 1759 - 1819.
