Background
The Educational Psychology Service aims to:
- help create conditions which enable children and young people to achieve their full potential, particularly where they are experiencing problems
- work together with parents, teachers, and other partners to prevent or overcome such problems
- promote understanding and advancement of learning and teaching strategies through engaging in authority-wide strategies and innovations
- conduct research which meets rigorous quality and ethical standards
Each educational psychologist has commitments in all of the following areas:
- generic: supporting individual children, families and teachers, through collaborative involvement in schools
- specialist: supporting individual children, families and teachers, through collaborative involvement in special schools and special units.
- research: supporting schools and the authority, through involvement in research and in the development of learning and teaching initiatives.
- continuous professional development: ensuring they keep up to date with latest professional developments.
