The Renfrewshire School of Sport Education programme was set up in 2004 and is aimed at 16 to 18 year olds who attend a Renfrewshire school.

Between 20 and 25 secondary school students are selected to take part in a one year sports training programme which helps them to develop skills and techniques in specific sports. The students also develop essential skills and gain experience in working with children and young people in schools.

The students take part in various courses lead by specialist tutors and Renfrewshire Council staff.

After completing the training, students move on to help sports coaches throughout Renfrewshire in local sports clubs and events.

Investing in young people as early as possible benefits the individuals, local schools and communities by providing qualified coaching staff across a range of sports.
