Paisley Museum - Art Galleries
We organise a year-round programme of a wide range of temporary exhibitions. See the what's on section.

Our programme includes the Paisley Art Institute - who the gallieries were built for - staging their annual exhibitions and competitions.

We also have wonderful permanent collections of studio ceramics, paintings and sculpture.
J Farquharson, Peat Moss, Poolewe

This includes work by artists from the Glasgow School, the Scottish Colourists and Paisley-born writer and artist John Byrne.

We care for a Ceramics Collection of over 500 pieces, both studio ceramics and factory ware.

Our studio ceramics collection is considered one of the finest in Scotland and includes examples by the majority of important contemporary British potters.

Studio ceramics are objects that have been made by a single artist or craftsperson who controls all the processes of making the object. Factory wares are mass-produced items made partly by machine and partly by hand.

However, please note that our permanent collections are not always on display. A limited selection may be on show at any given time and it's best to check the exhibitions programme before making a visit.

Renfrewshire Arts and Museums care for a wealth of treasures, from Ancient Egyptian artefacts to reminders of our industrial past and our natural heritage.

Curators for all the collections are based at Paisley Museum, please arrange an appointment if you have a specific request.
