Paisley Museum and Art Galleries opened in 1871. The building was designed by the well-known Glasgow architect John Honeyman and was paid for by Sir Peter Coats of the famous Coats thread manufacturing family.

The museum houses displays of archaeology, social history and natural history relating to Paisley and Renfrewshire, whilst the art galleries contain important works by Scottish artists past and present and a nationally important collection of 20th century ceramics.

Admission to Paisley Museum and Art Galleries is free.
