Robert Naylor - Director of Education and Leisure Services
He also provides advice to the council, develops policy, and makes sure that the council fulfils its responsibilities to provide education and leisure services to the highest standards.
Responsibilities include the management of:
- primary, secondary and ASN schools and pre-five establishments
- community learning services
- arts, culture, leisure and library services
The department is organised into three divisions:
Liz Jamieson - Head of Children's Services
- developing and implementing plans for raising achievement
- curriculum development and improvement
- the development of a policy framework for education
- managing a range of services aimed at support learning

Gordon McKinlay - Head of Resource Services

His responsibilities also include the administration of maintenance allowance applications, admission and placing requests and applications seeking external funding for schools and libraries. The Head of Resource Services also oversees the commissioning and monitoring of a range of support services for schools including:
- transport
- property and grounds maintenance
- information technology
- catering
- security
- janitorial services
