Quintin Jardine is a Scottish author of two series of crime novels, featuring the characters Bob Skinner and Oz Blackstone. His first novel, 'Skinner's Rules', was published in 1993.

Bob Skinner - 'Britain's toughest cop' Quintin Jardine has written sixteen novels featuring senior Edinburgh policeman Bob Skinner - 'Britain's toughest cop' according to the novel's publisher. Skinner lives in Stockbridge and, like Jardine, also has homes in Gullane, East Lothian and L'Escala, Catalonia in Spain. At the beginning of Jardine's first novel, Skinner is a detective chief superintendent, rising through the ranks as the series progresses. He supports Motherwell football club and plays golf.
Oz Blackstone..is the hero of Jardine's second series of books, the first of which he wrote under the pseudonym Matthew Reid. A private detective turned Hollywood actor, Blackstone, like Skinner, is Scottish and enjoys golf. He has featured in nine novels since 1996.
These two characters meet up - as one of Blackstone's regular acting roles is in fictional adaptations of Jardine's Bob Skinner series - and the Blackstone novels also exist in Bob Skinner's world! You can find out more about Quintin Jardine and his characters from his website
