Access to Renfrewshire Libraries Services

Home > Services > Libraries > About Renfrewshire Libraries

All Renfrewshire libraries encourage access for everyone and we are committed to removing barriers that prevent people from making full use of our services.

Community libraries all have:

Paisley Central library is a listed building and there are restrictions on modifications which can be made to the building, both internally and externally. As a result access is more limited. The children's library is situated on the first floor and we regret there is no disabled access to this floor, however staff are happy to help with providing, and returning children's books to the ground floor.

Customers with limited mobility and wheelchair users should use the museum side entrance, located beside the car park. This is open between 9.00am and 4.45am Monday to Saturday and allows access to these areas of the library: Mobile libraries. We have two mobile libraries which make stops across Renfrewshire, both are suitable for users with limited mobility and are: Information on mobile library stops is available from the 'libraries and opening times' link on the left of this page.

Software and computer aids. Most libraries have:
Toilets
Ferguslie and Erskine libraries have toilets which are suitable for disabled customers. Libraries do not have public toilets, however, most have facilities which customers can use on request, they may not be suitable for users with limited mobility.

Homebound library service
If you cannot manage to come to the library and have no one to go for you, you may be able to use our homebound library service. More information on this is available from the 'libraries and opening times link' on the left of this page.

Information service
If you request information on any subject, depending on quantity, it can be e mailed, faxed, posted or given over the phone at any time during library opening hours.

We want to ensure that our services are available to all and we welcome any feedback from you, or any suggestions you may have.
