Family fun at Foxbar Library

Get Inspired and meet the authors! Three of the best writers for children are appearing in Foxbar Library this month to read from their books and talk about what inspires them. Events are free to all children ages 5 to 8 and their families, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The events are part of the Foxbar Library Family Fun Read Project, which is joint funded by Renfrewshire Council and Creative Scotland’s Live Literature programme, managed by Scottish Book Trust..


Author Margaret Ryan

  • Time: 10.30 - 11.30am
  • Venue: Foxbar Library
Margaret Ryan was born and brought up in Paisley although she now lives in St Andrews and she has written over eighty books for children including 'Roodica the Rude' and 'The Littlest Dragon'.

All the family are welcome to this fun, free session - kids may even get the chance to dress up! There will be books for sale at this event.



Author Lynne Rickards

  • Time: 10.30 - 11.30am
  • Venue: Foxbar Library
Lynne Rickards (author of Jacob O'Reilly wants a Pet) was born in Canada but returned to her roots in Scotland in 1992. Lynne began writing for children when her own kids were learning to read.

Several of her books feature penguins in starring roles because her son loves penguins. The idea of a penguin turning pink was her daughter's.




Author Simon Puttock

On Saturday 12 November the library was visited by author Simon Puttock (author of Mademoiselle Gorilla).

Simon read from his books and created a story with the help of the children. He also gave a sneak preview of his brand new book "The Baby that Roared!
