Since August 2006, every parent of a pupil attending school is automatically a member of the parent forum for that school (parent includes guardians, carers, and any one who has care of the child or young person). The parent forum can then choose to be represented by a parent council.

The role of a parent council is to:

Renfrewshire Council's education and leisure services organise four training sessions a year on topics of interest to parent councils and four meetings a year for all parent councils chairs to meet with the convenor of the education policy board, director and senior managers of the education and leisure service.

For more information contact your local school or look at the parentzone website. The head teacher is the first point of contact for information on parent councils. If she or he can't help, you can email us at parentcouncils.els@renfrewshire.gov.uk. back to top
