Construction Apprenticeships - selection criteria

When we recruit apprentices for the construction training programme, we look for the following criteria:
| Factors | Essential | Desirable |
| Education | Standard Grade English at band 3 or above Standard Grade Mathematics at band 3 or above A Standard Grade in a technical subject at band 3 or above (For gas/plumbing/electrical apprentices: Physics or Chemistry; for all other apprenticeships: Craft and Design or Technical or Graphic Communication or Practical Craft Skills) | |
| Relevant experience | Working in a construction environment. | |
| Special knowledge and skills | Ability to demonstrate knowledge to carry out a range of tasks relevant to modern apprenticeship Numerate | Working knowledge of the construction trade and the appropriate trade tools Knowledge of Renfrewshire Council |
| Personal features/qualities | Aged 16 and under 19 at the start date of apprenticeship Good health record Effective interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work as a team member Able to show initiative Flexible in working location (willing to travel) |
