Hearings are held locally and usually during the day.
Individual hearings vary in length but a normal session of 3 cases will take up a full morning or afternoon.
Panel members usually take part in 1 or 2 sessions each month.
On occasion, if there are urgent or complex cases the hearing session may take longer.
Following the initial training, panel members are asked to attend further training events throughout their service and this is usually in the evenings or at weekends.
