Scheme of Community Councils

Following extensive consultation, the council has published a new Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils (Dec 2010) setting out where and how our community councils will operate from April 2011.
Our new scheme follows closely the rules and regulations contained in the Scottish Government's national scheme. It sets up 26 community councils throughout Renfrewshire, and amongst other operational matters, it provides details about:
- the role of community councils
- eligibility, membership and election rules
- the code of conduct for community councillors
- financial support available to meet basic running costs
- proper arrangements for meetings, and
- the boundary for each community council area.
