The Renfrewshire Educational Trust makes grants to students for further and higher education and one annual award in respect of students studying for a masters degree.
Further and Higher Education/Performing Arts/Travel – typical awards are in the region of £200-£400 per applicant and are available to complete a higher education course; a degree course at college or university; to travel abroad as a necessary part of a study course; or to meet tuition fees for exceptional students of the visual arts, music or drama.
Applicants must:
- have had permanent residency in the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire or Inverclyde local authority areas for a consecutive period of at least three years in the last 10 years
- not be in receipt of an award from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) or any other grant, bursary or financial award (except a Student Loan); and
- have an annual household income not above the threshold for receipt of SAAS bursary funding (£34,195 in 2011/12).

Taught Masters Award – £3,400 awarded to one student each year and determined by competitive interview.
NB Recent changes by SAAS to provide loans to meet the cost of tuition fees for post graduate study are not yet reflected in the Trust guidance. To be clear students who apply to SAAS for a loan for tuition fees would not also be eligible for an award from the Trust towards the costs, but an award from the Trust would allow the successful student not to have to take a student loan to cover the cost of fees.
Applicants must:
- have had permanent residency in the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire or Inverclyde local authority areas for a consecutive period of at least three years in the last 10 years
- propose to study a one-year Taught Masters programme in the UK that does not attract Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) or other funding for tuition fees
- not be in receipt of any other grant, bursary or financial award
- be in the final year of an undergraduate degree programme, or, have graduated last year from Universities of Glasgow, West of Scotland,Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian or, Glasgow School of Art or the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
- have an annual household income not above the threshold for receipt of SAAS bursary funding (£34,195 in 2011/2012).
