Call centre course manages to secure employment for 90% of those who attended in 2005.
A Reid Kerr College contact centre course developed and started in 2005 has helped long term unemployed individuals to get back into the work force.
"There are several reasons for this", says George Stewart, business development manager for call centres at Reid Kerr. "Primarily the course was developed by the college in conjunction with a number of major contact centre employers in the local area and there is a guaranteed job interview with these employers at the end of the course.”
Another benefit of the course is that it uses specialists who have first hand knowledge of the call/contact centre industry. All a student needs to start the course is an interest in working in a customer service environment. The course provides a high level of communication, interpersonal, team working, customer care and telephone skills demanded by today's employers in the contact centre industry. In addition, the course covers CV writing, job hunting and interview skills. Visits to local call centres are arranged where participants can 'try before they buy', getting the opportunity to tour the centre, listen in to calls and ask questions of the management.
The course has proved a winner with 90% of participants finding work at the end of the course.
