Public urged to ‘have their say’ on future of Renfrew Town Hall

Members of the public are being urged to 'have their say' on development plans for a famous Renfrew landmark.
As part of the multi-million pound regeneration programme for Renfrew town centre, Renfrewshire Council is taking forward plans to revamp Renfrew Town Hall.
The finalised proposal will form the basis of an application for funding to Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery.
If all goes well, the council intends to refurbish the town hall, improve access and create a public foyer with seating and wi-fi access.

The registrar's service would continue to be located in the town hall and there would be a new marriage suite.
Renfrew museum would be relocated in an extension to the town hall with twice its existing space.
"We are driving forward a plan to revitalise Renfrew Town Hall for future generations," said Renfrewshire Council leader Derek Mackay.
"It's time for this splendid building to reach its potential. Our plan respects the town hall's unique architecture and atmosphere, while equipping the building for modern expectations on access and comfort."
"We are particularly keen to hear the community's view and are giving people the chance to comment before the proposals are finalised."
Five questions are being asked concerning the need for a museum in Renfrew; facilities at Renfrew museum; plans to create a public drop-in area in the Town Hall; the impact of any refurbishment on intentions to use the building; and any suggestions on the stories which would be featured in Renfrew Museum.
