“Building services performs well and has a culture focused on improvement.”
Housing services are recognised by the audit team as another key area of service delivery to our customers.The audit notes that the housing service performs well in terms of the statutory performance indicators all councils must monitor for comparison:- 98% of emergency housing repairs are carried out within 24 hours compared to the Scottish average of 93.5%.
- 2.5% of rent is lost due to empty or un-let properties – this is in line with the Scottish average.
- 90% of council house sales in 2004/05 were completed within 26 weeks, ranking Renfrewshire third amongst Scottish councils
The housing service is also praised in the audit for consulting effectively with tenants to get their ideas and use these to make simple but effective improvements
The Building Services division is highlighted within the audit for developing its approach to customer care through the following methods:
- customer feedback followed up with visits to all non-satisfied customers
- services extended into the early evening
- access to building services through the customer contact centre and the community portal
- a handbook to help tenants report repairs
