Our interactive housing repairs service was particularly praised, as was our Internet Crystal Mark which guarantees that the site it is easy to read.
The Renfrewshire site was also rated in the top 10% of council websites across the UK.
Renfrewshire were also one of only nine Scottish councils whose sites achieved 'Transactional' status. Transactional sites allow people to easily access services and do business online. For example, on this site, people can make payments or bookings, calculate benefit entitlement, apply for jobs or report road and street lighting repairs online.
Councillor Allan Noon, Renfrewshire Council's finance and IT spokesperson, said: "To be praised in this prestigious independent study is encouraging recognition for the commitment Renfrewshire Council has shown to modernising our services and making them more accessible and relevant for our customers."
The survey success follows on from the site being named top Scottish public sector website in the SPIN-Socitm awards last year.
The survey results were published in the report 'Better Connected 2008' an annual survey of local authority websites by SOCITM (the Society of Information Technology Management). A total of 552 websites were assessed using a survey of 95 questions followed by seven shorter surveys on specific topics.
