Performing dancers
Dance students from Reid Kerr College have been invited to take part in the first ever dance festival to be held at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. Reid Kerr College were selected to participate in the event that will showcase the talent of over 1000 dancers representing the best work from dance schools, colleges and community groups across central Scotland.

Senior lecturer in dance Gillian Desjaques says, “The students will be performing a piece choreographed by one of our lecturers at the college, Ian West. Ian trained in London and has worked extensively as a performer and choreographer around the world, as well as making many TV and film appearances. We are obviously delighted to have him as part of the team. He brings a broad knowledge of musical theatre skills to our courses.”

“The students will be performing a piece titled ‘Roofless’, based on the plight of homeless people in Glasgow. The students helped to create the piece and the overall theme. The performance is a fusion of dance styles mainly contemporary, jazz and physical theatre.”

Gillian continued, “This is an excellent opportunity for the students to be part of the creative process involved in developing such a powerful piece of work. The chance to perform at one of Glasgow’s most prestigious venues gives our students an invaluable experience and a chance to showcase their talent and professionalism.”
