RET is a local charity which distributes funds through the Landfill Tax with the purpose of environmentally enhancing the community.
Projects that can be funded include:
- the maintenance, repair or restoration of buildings of historic and/or architectural interest
- increasing the variety of plants and/or animals within the area, and
- providing, maintaining or improving public amenities and parks
RET not only helps to finance local community groups but also provides support and information and creates beneficial collaborations between organisations through the free-to-join Renfrewshire Environmental Network.
Kirsten added: "Environmental projects are a great way to bring communities together to make a visible difference to an area. We hope more community groups will sign up to the Environmental Network to help kick start more local projects."
"If you are inspired to enhance your community and are part of a non-profit organisation, then RET can provide the funds and advice to help you make a difference to the local environment. The only requirement is that these improvements are accessible by the public."
Application forms are available from Renfrewshire Council for Voluntary Services who can be reached at 0141 587 2487 or by email at kirsten.robb@rcvsweb.co.uk
