In Renfrew, nine year old Amaka Blair did the honours while in Johnstone, it was five year old Eva Bingham Pratt and her two year old brother, Leo.
Big crowds gathered in Renfrew and Johnstone town centres to enjoy the festive fun. In Renfrew, the occasion was rounded off with a spectacular fireworks finale.
The display was also intended as a ‘thank you’ from Renfrewshire Council to Renfrew residents and businesses for their support during work on the £4 million regeneration of the town centre.
In Johnstone another bumper crowd turned out for the switch on ceremony, Santa visit and Radio Clyde road show with Gina McKee.
Renfrewshire’s Provost Celia Lawson said: “I’d like to thank everyone who helped to organise both ceremonies and all those who attended. We had cold but dry weather for both events and everyone really got into the spirit of the occasion.
