Councillor Lawson visits the mobile football park and youth bus in Johnstone
Johnstone youngsters are set for a double boost of activities rolling into town every Saturday night until 6 December.

Renfrewshire Council's youth services staff are bringing a mobile football park and youth bus, kitted out with top quality games consoles, to Johnstone every Saturday night for the next few weeks.

Young people aged between 10 and 16 are being encouraged to come along and take part in the fun at Houstoun Square, Johnstone, between 6pm and 8pm on Saturdays.

Qualified sports coaches will be on hand to organise small games on the mobile football park while staff will be on the youth bus, which is specially kitted out with games consoles, including Wii, Xbox and PS2 as well as an air hockey table.

Councillor Brian Lawson, Renfrewshire Council's community safety spokesman, headed along to Johnstone on Saturday 8 November to see the youth bus and mobile football park in action.

Councillor Lawson said: "These are two excellent facilities which have been developed to give young people in Renfrewshire somewhere safe and fun to spend time with other people their age.

"The Youth bus was launched in August with the input of a number of different organisations including Renfrewshire Youth Voice. I am delighted to see it and the mobile football park in action and hope plenty of young people in Johnstone come along and enjoy these Saturday nights."

For more information on the youth bus and mobile football park, call Youth Services on 0141 889 1110.
