Are you the voice of your colleagues at work? Would you benefit from recognised qualifications to help support your role as a union rep in the workplace? Reid Kerr College in Paisley is offering a wide range of Trade Union courses throughout the year aimed at representatives of member unions. These courses offer in depth training for a variety of staff including those working as 'union', 'health & safety', 'learning' and 'equality' representatives.
Alan Fleming, a driver with Renfrewshire Council, has achieved various TUC qualifications and completed a Diploma in Employment Law at Reid Kerr this year. He said, "Achieving these qualifications has given me greater knowledge and confidence to deal with workplace matters and I feel better equipped to take on the challenges faced as a union representative."
Course programmes at Reid Kerr include TUC Diploma in Employment Law, Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety Stage 1, Next Steps for Safety Representatives and Union Representatives Stage 1.
Billy Caldwell, accredited TUC lecturer at Reid Kerr said, "Diploma courses run for approx 36 weeks with all other training over a 10 week period. Delivered part-time day release, the aim of all TUC training courses is to provide guided learning for the candidates and enable them to succeed in becoming more effective workplace representatives."
