Engineering student Thomas Latham completed two years of study at Reid Kerr college in Paisley recently and the former labourer from Greenock has engineered his own future by achieving a national engineering qualification and graduating this year with a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in manufacturing engineering.
Thomas, 25 said, "I chose to study at Reid Kerr because of the great facilities and quality of teaching. I enrolled for the HNC after completing an NC in a similar subject the previous year. The HNC turned out to be an outstanding programme - I was able to grasp a thorough understanding of everything from product design through to manufacturing stages as well as dealing with the management side of production and the running of an organisation"
Lecturer in engineering Angela Skea added, “The HNC engineering offers two options and students can study a manufacturing or mechanical route. This course is suitable for anyone with a relevant NC or Highers as well as candidates looking for a route to university or even a junior management role."
Students can study this course full-time or part-time and complete a project of their choice as part of the HNC. For more information about HNC engineering: manufacturing or mechanical, please contact Student Services on 0800 052 7343 or log on to the Reid Kerr website
