Working with one of the UK's largest rehearsal studios is only a small part of the dynamic training delivered to the sound production students at Reid Kerr college. Courses starting August 2008 will see the college continue their partnership with rehearsal studio Berkeley 2 in Glasgow, and for the first time this year, students studying for the HNC sound production course, will work in conjunction with the college’s popular music courses.
Finlay MacDonald, senior lecturer in music at Reid Kerr said, "The HNC sound production course is open to anyone interested in gaining the knowledge for a career as a sound engineer in a wide range of jobs. This year the students will be working closely with the HNC and HND music students which will enhance their learning and ultimately improve the quality of their qualifications. This integrated approach will provide students with unique skills not normally available as part of this HNC."
The HNC sound production course provides students with up to the minute training in line with industry requirements and develops the technical and artistic skills required to continue with further education or a chosen career. Students have the latest equipment at their finger tips using industry standard software such as pro tools. Students are also provided with support on gaining employment in the industry with core subjects such as working in creative industries and creative industries infrastructure.
